When people find out that I wrote a book, the first question they always ask is: what’s it about? A very good question, indeed, yet one that I struggle to answer without feeling like this:

You would think since I wrote the thing that I would have a really easy time simply telling someone what it’s about. Well, without quoting the synopsis verbatim, I don’t. I get awkward and insecure and just at a loss for words when I’m trying to explain. (I know, I know, I need to work on this.) It could also be that there are three other books in the works, so I have a hard time just summing up this book when there is oh-so-much more to be told. Who knows. The point: my 5 year old gets it and she can give an awesome sales pitch in 0:34 seconds. Don’t believe me? Check it out HERE. If for no other reason, it’s adorable to see her try to say “trusts” with a missing front tooth. And while you’re seeing her in all of her cuteness, you may as well check out her Sweet Brown impersonation. Go on, you know you want to . . . I’ll wait.

See, she gets it! She knows the essence of Trusted. And what does she say when people don’t rush out to pick up a copy on Amazon?? “Ain’t nobody got time for that…go check it out already!”

Until next time. . .

The Sunday Seven

What a crazy/exciting week it has been! Check it out:

1. With the FREE promo I’ve had going on with my book, it has started to generate a little buzz. It has been downloaded an unfathomable-to-me amount of times, which I am in total shock about and I am starting to get Facebook likes from people I don’t even know. (Dare I say “fans”?!) God is soo good!

2. Allergies have attacked all members of my home this week. Sore throats every morning and stuffy noses every night. Blech. Bring on the rain!

3. Summer is in full swing! The weather has been hot and humid, but it is so nice to sit in the cool a/c and sip some sweet tea. So glad to be at home with my little one and enjoy some R&R.

4. I have started work on the sequel to Trusted. I am about 3000 words in. It is amazing how much more confident I feel going into this book than I did with the first one. Praying that the words just pour out and I can get it out early this Fall.

5. Bought the kiddo her first Arkansas Razorbacks shirt this weekend. We have lived in AR for well over a year…it was much overdue. She looks adorably awesome in it, if I do say so myself.

6. We had another wonderful Sunday dinner at my parents. Tacos and Mexican Hot Dish. Mmm. Even better than the food, spending time with my family. Talking about my book (squee!), playing Bible trivia, sending the little one out with her Pops to gather eggs at the coop. It’s the little things, folks. Cherish them.

7. And finally, I have caught up on emails, work related duties and writing. I am ready to call it a night and begin a new week; fresh starts and fresh ideas…bring it on!

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Until next time. . .

Baby Got Book

I got an email this morning from a wonderful friend of mine. There was a picture attached to this email of… well… just take a look:

SQUEEEE! That’s my friend Leta (whom I met on Goodreads) holding my book! I couldn’t be more thrilled to see her holding it and am so pumped that she shared this picture. Leta was one of the first people I was brave enough to show the first draft of Trusted to and she has been such an encourager the entire journey. I can still remember timid little me attaching the first draft to an email, praying she didn’t reply with:

Thankfully, she (along with some other helpful ladies) embraced the idea and helped me to make the book much better than it started out.

Thank you again, Leta! And thanks so, so much for sharing the picture. It feels like everything has come full circle.

Makes me want to hold my book up like this:

🙂  Thanks again, and don’t forget everyone…Trusted for Kindle is FREE this weekend!
