It’s Sunday…here we go!

1. Just realized today that I somehow forgot to watch last week’s Breaking Bad!! I am planning to promptly catch up tomorrow; I feel so… so

2. While I wasn’t watching Breaking Bad, I was getting organized for the upcoming school year. I have binders made and stuff. I’m so ready.

3. We played a fun new board game tonight with my brother and sis-in-law (see below). Lots of good laughs. I highly recommend it.

4. The kiddo and I have played a whole lotta Aquabats lately. She LOVES the show and insists that we act it out all day every day. She’s all just herself and I’m all:

5. My crafting has [thankfully] slowed a bit. I’ve been much more productive with stuff that’s way more important like reading and making to-do lists and such. 🙂

6. I have found a new magical Glade scent for my Scentsy. My home smells like warm Apples and Cinnamon. Mmmm. Feels like Fall is on the way…. which makes me realize that I need to hurry up and finish my book….which brings on a bout of anxiety. :/

7. And finally, I am fairly certain that my dog ate my paycheck yesterday. The mailman delivered a package and left the loose mail with it on the porch; needless to say, the puppy had a field day with it. I found bits and pieces of a Capital One offer all over my back yard. I’m not certain that my paycheck was in the stack but, well….we’ll know in a few days. 😉

Until next time. . .

It’s like literally seeing a dream come true.

Until next time. . .

Word of the Day

Today, I endured several lengthy meetings at work.

I survived. But just barely.

Throughout the day, though, I kept hearing the overuse of a certain word. This word is not a typical one in my vocabulary. Even on the long drive home, I heard the word used by a deejay on the radio. Everywhere I went, the word seemed to haunt me.

So, what’s the word?

It sounds so fancy doesn’t it?

Being an English major and all, I like to think I immediately knew what it meant. Given the fact that it was used out of context quite a few times today, I don’t feel so silly.

Just so we’re all clear:

noun \ˈka-vē-ˌät, -ˌat; ˈkä-vē-ˌät; ˈkā-vē-ˌat\

Definition of CAVEAT
: a warning enjoining one from certain acts or practices

: an explanation to prevent misinterpretation

: a modifying or cautionary detail to be considered when evaluating, interpreting, or doing something

: a legal warning to a judicial officer to suspend a proceeding until the opposition has a hearing
So, there you go. The word has swished around in my head all day; now I’m sharing the love.
You’re welcome. 😉
As a side note, I’m thinking of sneaking the word into Destined; just for fun.
Until next time. . .

Music and Writing

A while ago, I did a guest post on this fabulous blog about the impact that music has had on my writing. I hope that you’ll go and check it out. 🙂

After re-reading it, I realized that I hadn’t actually shared the playlist for Trusted in a blog post. 😦

So, without further adieu, drumroll please….

(hi-hat crash…followed by cheers and applause)

Taylor Swift                 Everything Has Changed
Weezer                                  Island In The Sun
Alice Cooper                                 School’s Out
YB Mobstaz                                       Umbrella
Modest Mouse         Tiny Cities Made Of Ashes
Nirvana                                                Plateau
Foo Fighters                                   All My Life
Stone Sour                                 Through Glass
The Goo Goo Dolls                          Better Days
The White Stripes     We’re Going To Be Friends

So, what do you think? Does music inspire or distract you from writing?

Until next time. . .

The Sunday Seven

One blog post down tonight, may as well continue. Here we go!

1. I made a trip to Tulsa for work this week. My big bro went with me to keep an eye on the little one while I sat through a meeting. We had a good time (T got to go to Incredible Pizza…I’m still a little jealous about this) and some good conversation. It was nice. 🙂

2. I accomplished some in the writing realm, though crafts mostly ruled. Still, any words written bring me one step closer to completion of Destined. I can’t wait to get it out there!

3. Had to do the “walk of shame” into the local library to tell them that we misplaced “Oodles of Animals”. Several minutes of paperwork and $17 later, we left. Grr…I hate losing borrowed stuff.

4. Though it’s still technically Summer here in Arkansas, the weather has felt otherwise. With some low 80’s temps this week, we spent some good quality time outdoors. I also went ahead and put out a few Fall decorations. Just ’cause.

5. Work has consumed a major chunk of my week (don’t ya hate when that happens?) And by work, I don’t mean writing. I mean the real world, gotta-pay-the-bills-so-I-have-to-have-a-job kind of job. No fun.

6. Got to have a date night with the hubs these weekend! The little one has finally conquered her fear of sleeping over at Mimi’s house, so we got to have a nice, relaxing time. We watched a movie, Home Run, and caught up on Duck Dynasty. Yeah, we’re wild like that. 😉

7. And finally, I have sat down at my computer long enough to crank out some blog posts and catch up on emails. What can I say…

Have a great week everyone!! 🙂

Until next time. . .

Lately, it feels like I have been completely consumed by distractions. Every fiber in my body wants to finish the sequel to Trusted early, but my mind is just all:

I seriously need to get motivated. What, you ask, have I been distracted by? Oh, well, you name it: work, music, play dates, cleaning the house, and….CRAFTS!

Yup, I said it: CRAFTS. This past week I have been churning out crafts left and right. My latest fetish, miniature faux gumball machines. 🙂

An example (because I’m too distracted at this point to go take a picture of the ones I actually made):

I’ve been creating these puppies like a mad woman! I made one for my brother and sis-in-law’s dog, for my mom, my daughter, a new coworker, the kiddo’s BFF at church…I may end up handing one to the mailman before it’s all said and done. I’m in a crafty frenzy. Seriously, why can’t I get into a writing frenzy?? :/

My poor husband has witnessed me working like this for the past week:

I think I see an end in sight, though. (Thank goodness!)  I’m taking sitting down to write a blog post as a good sign. 😉

Here’s to productive writing! Cheers!

Until next time. . .

So, life has been busy lately and I took a bit of absence from the writing world. I’m getting my groove back though, so…here we go:

1. I took my munchkin’ to her first ever concert this week. (Squee!) We saw Taylor Swift. It was so cool to share such a special time together. We were both pretty much like this the entire time:

2. I have been organizing/reorganizing/organizing again to try and get things ready for the upcoming school year. Not only have I taken on a lot of work, but I am attempting to homeschool my daughter. :/ Pray for me.

3. I still, sadly, have not written much on Destined. I have these awesome ideas in my head, but they just haven’t found their way on paper yet. I can’t wait to share the next book with the world, I just gotta carve out some time to git ‘er done.

4. Got to spend some time with my family this week. 🙂 Always love that. My mommy was off work this weekend and I got to work on a top-secret-super-awesome project with my sister-in-law. 😀

5. This past weekend (yeah, since it’s been that long since my last post) I got to be a part of a community event with my church. They teamed up with some local stores and we were able to hand out 3,000 backpacks to needy kids in the community. I had a little boy hug me and look me in the eye to genuinely say “thank you”. It was an awesome day.

6. We got a new kitten. Technically, we have gotten two new kittens since my last post. The munchkin just keeps x-ing out names on the food dish. 😦  First Alishia…then Jimmy…now Furrista.

7. My worst nightmare came true: we lost a book from the library. I know, I know…it’s not that big of deal, we’ll pay to replace it and move on. But still…I get major anxiety every time we go to check books back in. I count and recount them to make sure they are all there. I let my husband take them back this time….  Now, I’m not pointing fingers or anything, but, ahem…. Yeah.

Hope everyone has had a great couple of weeks! Glad to be back in the blogosphere!

Until next time. . .
