Archive for the ‘Sunday Seven’ Category

I was browsing back through my blog posts today and noticed that it has been ages since I have done a Sunday Seven post! ๐Ÿ˜ฆ (Or any post for that matter!) I loved doing these as they helped me create a log of my week’s adventures as well as held me accountable to weekly blogging. Well, as you all know, life just gets bananas sometimes.

So, it’s not Sunday and I probably don’t have enough time to list seven things, but here’s a little update anyhow:

1. Got a new haircut today. Woot! Woot! It’s a short, summery ‘do, Kind of like this, but much more glamorous of course! ๐Ÿ˜‰

2. I haven’t gotten to work on Broken much lately which I’m totally bummed about; I have, however, cleaned my house and car, crafted, ย set a trap to catch a cat for the kiddo, went on a nice walk, tuned my guitar, sorted out the laundry room, vacuumed at least 15 times, oh, did I mention I got a haircut?

3. School has been crazy busy with testing just around the corner. This girl is ready for a vacation!

4. I’ve obsessively watched an entire season of My Cat From Hell. I totally feel like I could be a cat whisperer now.

5. I’ve made my own laundry soap, fabric softener, shampoo, candles, and aย clay pot heater. Don’t ask.

Okay, I feel better now that I’ve blogged. I hope you all have been more productive with your craft lately than I have. Happy writing!

Until next time. . .

This edition of The Sunday Seven is going to be a bit different. Rather than share seven things I did, I’m going to share seven pictures. Why? Well, my hubby turned the big 3-0 this weekend (technically today, 9/16…HAPPY BDAY HUBS!) and I have literally devoted nearly every minute of this last week to planning his surprise 80’s themed Birthday Bash. I initially starting planning this party in January (yeah, I’m a little crazy like that) but anyone that has ever planned a surprise party knows that the week leading up to it is CrAzy.

So, with that being said, I give you:

The Hub’s Bodacious Birthday Bash!

1. The Photo Booth props. ๐Ÿ™‚

2. Setting up the par-tay. Neon balloons, Slinkies, and Rubix cubes…can’t go wrong with that.

3. Some pics of the hubby in the ’80’s. He didn’t have many baby pics, so I had to get creative. Check out the hubby as Kevin from the Wonder Years, John Stamos, and Vanilla Ice.

4.-7. ย Some pics of the totally awesome outfits. ๐Ÿ™‚

We had such a fun time! The hubby was surprised and we all rocked out to 80’s tunes, karaoke and some super fun games. It was a crazy week but so, so worth it. Couldn’t have done it without awesome friends and family…thank you all!! ๐Ÿ™‚

Hope you all had a great week!

Until next time. . .

Seven things that happened last week…here we go:

1. Not actually sure if this happened last week or the week before since everything has kind of been 10 kinds of crazy, but I have to brag on my little one for a sec. We took her to be tested to see if she could skip Kindergarten and she totally aced all of the tests thrown at her. One proud momma. ๐Ÿ™‚ I give all the credit to God. Lord knows neither I nor her daddy are that smart. ๐Ÿ˜‰

2. On the same page as the previous post, both little one and I survived our first week of school! We are officially homeschoolers now. ๐Ÿ™‚

3. Let’s see, I have been so busy with school/work that I honestly haven’t written anything. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ ย Kind of bummed about that, but feeling a writing spree coming on soon.

4. I joined a local writer’s group! I feel like this one is going to be a good fit for me. Excited to learn and talk with other authors.

5. Schooled my hubby in a game of basketball. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Okay, so technically he beat me, but my skills are improving!

6. Still getting some good feedback from Trusted. Lots of great input for the sequel coming from everyone’s reviews. Remember, if you’re interested in reviewing a copy for FREE, contact me using the Contact link above.

7. And finally, my guilty pleasure of the week: Plants vs. Zombies. My brother introduced the game to the little one and it has completely sucked me in. It’s like the new Candy Crush Saga for me. Too addicting.

Hope everyone had an awesome week!

Until next time. . .

It’s Sunday…here we go!

1. Just realized today that I somehow forgot to watch last week’s Breaking Bad!! I am planning to promptly catch up tomorrow; I feel so… so

2. While I wasn’t watching Breaking Bad, I was getting organized for the upcoming school year. I have binders made and stuff. I’m so ready.

3. We played a fun new board game tonight with my brother and sis-in-law (see below). Lots of good laughs. I highly recommend it.

4. The kiddo and I have played a whole lotta Aquabats lately. She LOVES the show and insists that we act it out all day every day. She’s all just herself and I’m all:

5. My crafting has [thankfully] slowed a bit. I’ve been much more productive with stuff that’s way more important like reading and making to-do lists and such. ๐Ÿ™‚

6. I have found a new magical Glade scent for my Scentsy. My home smells like warm Apples and Cinnamon. Mmmm. Feels like Fall is on the way…. which makes me realize that I need to hurry up and finish my book….which brings on a bout of anxiety. :/

7. And finally, I am fairly certain that my dog ate my paycheck yesterday. The mailman delivered a package and left the loose mail with it on the porch; needless to say, the puppy had a field day with it. I found bits and pieces of a Capital One offer all over my back yard. I’m not certain that my paycheck was in the stack but, well….we’ll know in a few days. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Until next time. . .

One blog post down tonight, may as well continue. Here we go!

1. I made a trip to Tulsa for work this week. My big bro went with me to keep an eye on the little one while I sat through a meeting. We had a good time (T got to go to Incredible Pizza…I’m still a little jealous about this) and some good conversation. It was nice. ๐Ÿ™‚

2. I accomplished some in the writing realm, though crafts mostly ruled. Still, any words written bring me one step closer to completion of Destined. I can’t wait to get it out there!

3. Had to do the “walk of shame” into the local library to tell them that we misplaced “Oodles of Animals”. Several minutes of paperwork and $17 later, we left. Grr…I hate losing borrowed stuff.

4. Though it’s still technically Summer here in Arkansas, the weather has felt otherwise. With some low 80’s temps this week, we spent some good quality time outdoors. I also went ahead and put out a few Fall decorations. Just ’cause.

5. Work has consumed a major chunk of my week (don’t ya hate when that happens?) And by work, I don’t mean writing. I mean the real world, gotta-pay-the-bills-so-I-have-to-have-a-job kind of job. No fun.

6. Got to have a date night with the hubs these weekend! The little one has finally conquered her fear of sleeping over at Mimi’s house, so we got to have a nice, relaxing time. We watched a movie, Home Run, and caught up on Duck Dynasty. Yeah, we’re wild like that. ๐Ÿ˜‰

7. And finally, I have sat down at my computer long enough to crank out some blog posts and catch up on emails. What can I say…

Have a great week everyone!! ๐Ÿ™‚

Until next time. . .

So, life has been busy lately and I took a bit of absence from the writing world. I’m getting my groove back though, so…here we go:

1. I took my munchkin’ to her first ever concert this week. (Squee!) We saw Taylor Swift. It was so cool to share such a special time together. We were both pretty much like this the entire time:

2. I have been organizing/reorganizing/organizing again to try and get things ready for the upcoming school year. Not only have I taken on a lot of work, but I am attempting to homeschool my daughter. :/ Pray for me.

3. I still, sadly, have not written much on Destined. I have these awesome ideas in my head, but they just haven’t found their way on paper yet. I can’t wait to share the next book with the world, I just gotta carve out some time to git ‘er done.

4. Got to spend some time with my family this week. ๐Ÿ™‚ Always love that. My mommy was off work this weekend and I got to work on a top-secret-super-awesome project with my sister-in-law. ๐Ÿ˜€

5. This past weekend (yeah, since it’s been that long since my last post) I got to be a part of a community event with my church. They teamed up with some local stores and we were able to hand out 3,000 backpacks to needy kids in the community. I had a little boy hug me and look me in the eye to genuinely say “thank you”. It was an awesome day.

6. We got a new kitten. Technically, we have gotten two new kittens since my last post. The munchkin just keeps x-ing out names on the food dish. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ ย First Alishia…then Jimmy…now Furrista.

7. My worst nightmare came true: we lost a book from the library. I know, I know…it’s not that big of deal, we’ll pay to replace it and move on. But still…I get major anxiety every time we go to check books back in. I count and recount them to make sure they are all there. I let my husband take them back this time…. ย Now, I’m not pointing fingers or anything, but, ahem…. Yeah.

Hope everyone has had a great couple of weeks! Glad to be back in the blogosphere!

Until next time. . .

The final Sunday Seven for July 2013…here we go!

1. Life has felt ten kinds of busy this week. Between my “real job” and other everyday obligations, I have felt a little stretched at both ends. Because of this, not a lot of productivity in the writing world has happened. :/ ย Hoping to change that this week.

2. Still reveling in the feedback I have been receiving for Trusted. Some reviews and comments make me want to scream from the rooftops like a giddy little girl at how grateful I am to have written a book that people enjoy. Some reviews make me want to stab my eyes out with a blunt pencil, but we won’t talk about those.

3. I enjoyed spending some quality time with my little one this week. We have read many, many books together and “played” AquaBats like fifty times. (By “played”, I mean I have to act out all of the characters. Yes, just like I have to be the voice of Doofenshmirtz from Phineas and Ferb.)

4. My hubby and I went on a hot date Friday night. You know you’re getting old when the “hot date” consists of going to look at furniture. (Hey, you have to make use of your time sans kiddo.) Needless to say, we were like kids in a candy store at the revelation of power recliners.

5. We went fishing with some friends last night and had a great time. The kiddo caught a good sized bass; saying she was pumped is the understatement of the century. ๐Ÿ˜‰

6. Started reading Captivating by John and Stasi Eldredge. It’s great so far; can’t wait to finish it! (Thanks for letting me borrow it, sis!)

7. The kiddo and I were attacked by ants over the weekend. I stepped on a mound of some kind of aggressive Arkansas ant and they went for the kill. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ ย Lots of itchy, yucky stings on our feet. No fun.

Hope you all had a great week!

Until next time. . .
